Mahamayee Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Berhampur is a premier educational institution in Odisha, established on August 5, 1981. Initially, it operated with Intermediate Arts courses at the Municipality M.E. School on Park Street, supported by five dedicated lecturers who played a crucial role in its early growth. Thanks to the earnest efforts of the Governing Body and the staff, the college is now fully aided by the government and managed by its Governing Body.
In 1981, Mahamayee Mahila Mahavidyalaya affiliated with Berhampur University. Over the years, it expanded its academic offerings: the Science stream for +2 students was added in 1986, followed by Commerce in 1992. The college introduced +3 Degree classes for Arts in the 1989-90 academic session. Honours classes in Political Science, History, and Odia were established in 1998. Subsequent additions included +3 Degree classes in Science, Home Science, and Education in 1998-99, Economics and English in 2000-01, and Commerce in 2014-15. Students also have opportunities to engage in social service and develop patriotism through NSS, NCC, and Red Cross Wings, with NSS volunteers gaining recognition both within and outside the state.
Today, Mahamayee Mahila Mahavidyalaya operates smoothly with over 2,000 degree-level students, more than 1,000 +2 level students, and 41 faculty members across various disciplines. The college aspires to be one of the most esteemed and respected institutions in the state, relying on the genuine cooperation of all its stakeholders.
