Mahamayee Mahila Mahavidyalaya is one of the leading educational institutions of Odisha. It was established on August 5th, 1981. It started functioning with the Intermediate Arts in the Municipality M.E. School, Park Street. In the beginning there were only five lecturers who sincerely devoted their time for the growth of the institution. As a result of the sincere efforts of the Governing Body and the staff it is now fully aided by the Govt. and managed by the Governing Body.
Mahamayee Mahila Mahavidyalaya college was affiliated to Berhampur University in the year 1981. Subsequently Science and Commerce streams for +2 students were introduced in 1986 and 1992 respectively. +3 Degree classes for Arts was introduced in the academic session 1989-90. The Honours classes in Pol.Science, History and Odia were introduced in 1998. +3 Degree classes in Science, Home Science and Education, Economics & Eglish and Commerce were introduced in 1998-99, 2000-01 and 2014-15 respectively. The students can inculcate in them the attitude of social service and patriotism through the NSS, NCC and Red Cross Wings. The volunteers of the NSS have earned fame not only in the state but also outside the state.
Mahamayee Mahila Mahavidyalaya college runs smoothly with a student strength of 2000 in degree level and more than 1000 in +2 level and 41 faculty members of different disciplines. The college of course aspires to be one of the glorious and dignified institutions of the State and expects to receive genuine co-operation of all.
